I mean that in a good way...when I bought my truck, the 4x4 was not working. There was a leak in the black vacuum line between the transfer and central axle disconnect. Prev owner felt no vacuum on black line during 4x4 engage so he traces it back to transfer, feels no vacuum on green line going into switch on top of transfer, which is actually connected to black during 2wd not 4wd...I don't think he understood the switch. Well the green line was connected to clean air, as it was supposed to, but that wasn't good for him. So he moved it to green to the IM for some vacuum. Now we have vacuum for both red and black all the time, but still only red at the CAD(remember busted black). Give up and sell the truck. I buy, replace black hard line, disconnect green, 4x4 works, but have a question. Where does the green get its clean air from? Service manual doesn't know, hanes doesnt know, shop manager at dealership doesn't know. hmmm. Since I play in puddles, I would love to know. Please help if ya would, I would greatly appreciate it...and so would my truck. thanks

 

I am not sure I completely understand, but is the green line your transfer case vent hose? This would be routed to fresh air to allow pressure to escape under the expansion and contraction of the fluid through the operating temperatures.

If so, you can extend it and run it to wherever you want. The higher the better. Most people will run them up into the engine compartment along the firewall.

I had the same problem with my truck!! I was told that by a 4wheelparts rep that there is a manually engaged cable unit that replaces the cluttered mess of those crappy plastic lines...it wasn't really cheap if i remember right, but in my opinion it would be worth it....I always hang my lines up on tree limbs, it is very aggrivating but easy to fix...
