Default heater core... yea...sorry

yea i've read some threads on this site, but one came to me that wasn't really about heater cores its more about a/c evaporator replacement, this thread is by DAVMELRACH. they said to remove the entire dash, is that really necessary? does anyone have threads or information on this subject, im really tired of having to refill the antifreeze cause it just comes right back out of the heater core and onto the passengers legs or the carpet.

by the way it blew when i had the radiator flushed but never caught it, thought is was from tools or something WRONG

all help is appreciated, thanks

Yeah, evap. and htr. core are in the same HVAC box next to each other. The dash has to come out. Then the HVAC box.

The dash doesn't have to come completely out of the truck. It does have to be completely unbolted but you can pivot it away on the passenger side. It's still a big job though.

Guys listen,

For the umpteenth time. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COMPLETELY REMOVE THE DASH. I just did mine not long ago replacing both the evap and the heater core. all you have to do is what my instructions say.... lift the dash up on the passenger side, tying it off to the handle on the A post. This gives you more than enough room to access the box. The directions I posted are exactly right.

VWand,

I'm not the best when it comes to operating on these forums but i did post a detailed DIY under my name. You can find it by searching out articles under my name and evaporator replacement. 07/09/2007 was the date on the original post. Also if you will tell me how to do a link I will give it a go. This question of evap/core replacement comes up on here all the time and I know for sure those directions I posted will help anyone who wants to DIY. They were an absolute lifesaver for me.
