All,

My Ram has approx. 83K on it. What are the chances that it is ready for a new cat? Just wondering, b/c I've never had avehicle with this many miles on it, so it's never been an issue.

I don't think you "need" a new cat unless it's clogged. If you want a new cat for sound and performance purposes you can get a new high flow cat from magnaflow or others. If you're experiencing sluggishness, loss of power, O2 sensor codes, etc. it might be time for a new cat, but otherwise it's satisfactory until it fails.

next time you change your oil, you or the mechanic can check by pounding on the cat with the side of your fist. If it rattles it's time.

Awesome, thanks for the input. I just basically wanted to know about what the life of the factory cats seems to be.
