Default Water pump...

I joined this forum a few days ago... Man, this is the best place on the planet. I have found out all kinds of things about why my truck has such low power( I got the "death flash"). Anyway, I have a question. Where can I get a heavy duty water pump for my '00 Ram 1500 5.9L. I am going to be towing with it and I want it to stay nice and cool... Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks for the great site...

I got mine at oriely's but not sure if it is heavy duty. Also if you put in a 180 thermostat it keeps it alot cooler.

A transmission cooler is going to do more good than a 180ยบ t-stat in this application.

I still don't understand why everyone is so hard-core about a 180ยบ t-stat. All it does is open sooner.

i'm not familar with a heavy duty or high volume option in these water pumps. because the savings are small and the work to change it is large, i prefer a NEW one with lifetime warranty over a rebuilt. if your going to tow anything add a trans cooler.
here's a good website with most parts and good pictures.

cold air = denser air, 180 deg t-stat lowers the head temp which will drop the CC temps some improving power. the 195 t-stat was there for emissions purposes. I found info on the web (race site IIRC) that indicated the HP #'s for a drop in intake air temp, made sense to me... apply the 180 deg t-stat to a smaller motor and you'll feel the difference... drop the intake air temps on the same motor and you'll again feel the difference.
