transmission fittings
Which transmissions can I use for a replacement for my truck.
So far, I have come up with the following, but I was wondering if there are more.
Truck is a 97 5.9 360 4x4 auto
The ones that would fit would be- 97-01 ram 1500,2500,3500
Ones I would guesswould be -97-01 dakota v8 4x4 5.2 or 5.9
98 jeep grand cheerokee 5.9 4x4
I have seen 99 jeeps with good trannys, but they come out of a 4.7 so im guessing it wouldn't work? What about 02 and up rams? Different?

RE: transmission fittings
I would guess the only one you can use as a direct replacement would be exactly what you have. If you're looking for astrongertranny, try:

RE: transmission fittings
Well, if you have a 46re tranny and the other vehicle has a 46re tranny I would say sure, it'll work, that's why the websites sell them by 46re not just ram 1500 tranny or jeep 4.7 tranny
You're tranny should be listed on a sticker in the glovebox.
But you'll have to do the research to find out if the vehicle you're looking at has that particular tranny. Go tothe jeep forum here and see what the guys there run.
