Weird WINING noise??
I don't know if you guys will be able to tell me what this is based off my written description, but I am going to try my best to describe my truck problem. Generally when I am driving, I have my windows rolled down so I can hear my exhaust lol and get nice fresh air. BUT, whenever I have to roll my windows up, which I hate doing now, all I can hear is this discgusting weird wining noise coming from the engine. It wouldn't even be a big deal if was just a little wining, but I mean it just takes over, everytime I hit the throttle it wines up even more and more, so it's kind of embarrassing having passengers in the vehicle when the windows are rolled up because it sounds like my engine is weak or something haha. Call me weird, but these things make me self-conscious of my truck haha! ANYWAYS, do any of you guys have an idea what that wining noise might be? It definately gets louder as I put down more of the throttle, so it has something to do with more speed, more wine up noise... Also, this transmission I have has been rebuilt, and at certain shift intervals, especially in 3rd and 4th gear, the engine will skip a lot if I push it when it doesn't want to be pushed....I've also learned that whenever I turn my a/c on, my 2nd gear will not shift till very very late..it will just kind of sit on an "rpm note" and then finally shift after wining for awhile...now i don't know if these have anything to do with each other or not, but if they aren't, could you guys help me assess both of the different issues, and if they are related....what the hell can I do to stop the weird wining noise. If I didn't have that beautiful exhaust system on the truck, I'd be a very pissed off driver if all I heard was that annoying wining noise lol!
No I haven't done anything at all, i got this truck about 2 months ago with 98,000 miles on it, so it is very conceivable that could be a reason. So you think it's air induction related as opposed to some kind of belt or something? If it was, that'd be relieving considering I am having a cold air intake kit installed in the near future
It could also be the belt, you'd just have to inspect it. If it's cracked get a new one. I know the factory rubber gasket on at the bottom of the air hat crapped out early on me. Also, some of the vac hoses on the intake manifold andthe TB gethard and crack due to heat. You could check those visuallytoo.
sounds good, ill check it out visually tomorrow, and no matter what, I am going to schedule an appointment with a mechanic to check it out, I really dont care for all the whining baloney

yes the radio. If you have a bad ground, or a ground loop i believe, you will hear the engine whine in thru the speakers. Usually a ground loop isolator will help, or a ground filter. Or the accessory belt is too tight. But try turning off the radio completly, not just turn the volume to 0.
I am only a little skeptical of this though because I can hear the whining noise while the truck is ideling from outside of the vehicle, so I have somewhat of a hunch that its directly coordinated to that sound...my truck is at the paint shop again, so I can't check out the radio thing till i get it back friday, I forgot to check the radio idea though on the way there, damn.
