I plan on changing my oil in a few days with just some normal 10W-30, but I have no idea how many quarts it takes. How many? I also picked up a can of that stuff that restores the engine compression and I assume I just replace one of the quarts with that.

Here's another question about my Transfer case. On the back of it by the two bolts that you take off to drain it out theres a round white badge with a red trim around it. Does anyone else have that on theirs? It says New Hanover on it or something like that. Thanks for the help!

 

5 quarts of oil if you drain it good and remove the oil filter. the V8 can of engine restorer is 16oz and should replace exactly one quart.

The badge is just stating what transfer case you have: 231, 241HD etc.

 

Oh yeah,

I usually run the engine for just a bit to heat up the oil a tad (not full operating temp, mind you), it runs out faster hot than cold. Or you can wait about 45min after you've been out for a good drive.

 

16 fl. oz = 1/2 qt.

but yeah, 5 qts. total

 

oh yeah, pint not quart. Too many numbers today.Chalk it up to being sick. Maybe I better go back and check my math on that speed thread...

 

Thanks for the help. I'm pretty sure that the engine restoration can is 19 oz though. I'll just put in 4 quarts and this then. And I was asking about the badge because I didn't want to get worried about the last owner replacing the TC and having no idea.
