welcome to DF... have you tried the wrecking yards? if all you need is a backing plate, i'd go get one used and get it back together.

 

thanks yea ill try that soon. my fiancee's car should be ready to pick up tomorrow sometime. so ill be able to go check out the yards. are there any tricks to taking it apart and back together? i know how to do the springs and all that but never got as far as taking the backin plate off. are there any special tools i will need?

 

I'd download the 2001 manual and review it before yanking it apart. that way you can see what you need to. you could also print out the pages to take with you...

 

where can i download the manual at? id like to get into all the mechanical parts of it. all i know is im definatly getting an intake, throttle body and 14" filter
