If the truck it was used on before hasbeen programmed back to stock then the programmer can be used on another truck. The programmers are designed to be used on one vehicle at a time (VIN locked) but once its returned back to stock then it's unlockedandit can be used on a different vehicle and will be VIN locked to that one until it's returned back to stock.

Yeah, you and your buddy can't use it at the same time. He has to set his truck back to normal for you to be able to use it...

Hypertech will have to reprogram it. Currently you have your buddy's old stock program sitting in the hypertechand that wouldn't do you any good even if you could put it on.

If he wrecked his truck, steal his computer for a bit,put it in your truck, use hypertech 2 remove the software. plug in your computer again and upload the firmware. then give him his computer back. Otherwise, you just bought a paper weight...

I'm sure the truck is probably spare parts at this point.

But look on the bright side, some salvage yard is running around with a perfectly good hypertech flash!
