Default Hypertech power programer

Finally recieved my hypertech power programer 3 today for a 2001 dodge ram 360 with the off road package, went to to install after work and noticed it didn't ask me some of the options it should have. For instance it asked me if i wanted to change the rev limiter, bumped it up to +400 but it never asked me adjust shift points and or shift firmness. I did however put it on 93 octane with 87 in the tank and didn't have a problem.....Took it for a spin noticed it did rev higher and didn't shift as much but other than that nothing.....i mainly bought this for fuel milage so we shall see how that goes on monday when i make the journey back to school......any ideas whats up with everything else???

Look on Hypertech's web site and you'll see that the programmer for the 2001 does nothing for the transmission. It is not part of the programming.

Sorry but turkeyhunter is right, it is not made to adjust the shift points or firmness, that is why you aren't geting those options.

Your transmission isn't an electronic shift engine so the programmer can't do anything to adjust it.

You may find that the 93 octane setting won't work forever on 87 octane gas.

flashing the PCM is like resetting it and the mixture tends to be rich. as the PCM adapts the fuel leans out and it may start to have problems. OR maybe it'll be ok, sometimes it depends on the quality of gas whether or not it'll work. Either way I'd drive with your programmer for a while just incase you noticea pinging problem, that way you can always reset it to 87.

Actually the 46re transmission in his truck does have partial electronic shifting. 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd are mechanically controlled by the TV cable from the throttle body.

However, 3rd on up are elctronically controlled. Hypertech just does not do anything for those points on the 2001 though.

The dyno sheets show it to be better on 87, I tried both and can't tell a difference.
I'll stick with 87.

If you've got the deathflash andyou installed the hypertech you should definitely notice a difference. Maybe Fox will weigh in, he said he noticed a large difference.
