I would say the best way is to buy a wrecked 4wd same year and engine everything. and just swap frames. Thats what I did I bought a rollover truck and just used the frame and keeped my engine and used the 4wd tranny and driveshaft. This will be the easyst and cheepest way. Most body mounts are the same locations for 2wd and 4wd. so look at you local paper and junkyard.

there is a guy that did a 4x4 conversion on a explorer, it cost him around 1500 in parts. he did all the labor himself. It can be done, just need money. I say go for it, alot of people will tell you to buy a new truck (just like when i bring up a diesel conversion...) but its definatly possible. Crazy4x4rt is the man to talk to, he made his from a 2wd to a 4x4 beast.
