Getting ready to replace my fuel level sending unit/ fuel pump due to fualty sending unit. Is there a kit to install an external fuel filter and do away with the one on the pump, or has someone done this before? It would be nice to be able to change filters durring maintnance.

 

Have you seen what the entire unit looks like? It's actually a 3-stage system with the sock at the bottom, an internal filter, and then the pressure regulator acts like the last line of defense. Ultimately, your external filter isn't going to do much good.
