Default ticking noise

I have a 1999 ram 1500 V6. I have been hearing a ticking sound coming from my engine lately. it only occurs when accelerating and sounds like a clock ticking real fast. it is itermittent so i cannot say specifically when it happens but it is driving me nuts. any ideas are appreciated.
thanks

I'm not to sure, but I'm thinking it could be a number of things. Most all V-6 & V-8 have ticking sounds when there new & when they get older. Reg. unleaded fuel is recommended, but your valves may have deposit build on them. Either fill up your tank with Supreme fuel or run a good fuel additive inside. It could be your pcv valve located usually on your right side looking at the engine front manifold. I would also look into using synthetic oil.[sm=smiley16.gif]
