Yeah, I ended up getting a new one from AutoZone w/ warranty, for about the same price. We'll see if that does the trick.
P.S. I still like Steve's DIY, in particular the color photos help alot with visualization versus scetchy black-and-whites in the Haynes manuel! Pretty slick.
