Engine shuts off when you hit the brakes
Hello, I am a new member with a problem. I have a 96 dodge ram with a 360 motor and a k&n air system and holley throttle body. when you start the truck and let idle down and put in gear it runs fine, but when you hit the brake pedal the motor dies. If you let it warm up to 180 degrees it won't shut off coming to a stop. Any answers will be helpful. I forgot to mention it has 168,274 oringinal miles.

I had that problem with my ranger. I forget what the hell caused it. Something to do with the fuel mixture before the enging is warm. I think it was called an ips or something but I'm not sure. Someone will know. This is gonna bother me till I remember. [:@]

you may want to replace the Idle Air Control (IAC) motor on the rear of the throttle body. do a search for a million posts and diy's. its about $45-50 at local auto parts. not required, but you may want to remove TB and clean the whole thing. you can also check down in plenum for leaking gasket.
