Looks good Aubrey! [sm=smiley20.gif]

Oh, one other thing. You can love your bumper, just don't LOVE your bumper.

What did you use for the hinge mechanism? I'm looking at building a swinging tire carrier as well...

Thanks,
Cartman

I agree. I have a feeling that if I ran into that it would do me a lot of damage, with minimal to you. Looks good though. Very tough looking.

My dad used to have an International Harvester Scout II. He fabbed a winch box up out of 3/8" steel and mounted in to the front of the truck.Got in a wreck with a carthat couldn't stay in her own lane. Took a tow truck pulling the car and my dad in 4lo reverse to pull her off the winch box.Dad got two creases on his bumper, the lady got a new car. Good all aroundI'd say!

Man, sounds like it. Very strong and protective, for the person behind it.

You got it quick, I thought you were not going to get it for a while?

Anyway, looks stout and makes sense with your topper too.

The hinge is a 3500# trailer spindle and uses a 2500# machinist jig clamp. It's pretty much all 3/8" steel. It'll take a 37" tire but I'm running 35's. There's a spot there for a fuel can as well. I just don't have one yet. This thing is sooooo heavy. We figure it's in the range of 250 - 300 lbs. I think that's the only drawback is the weight of everything way out there but this thing is thicker and beefier than the frame. It'll hold up to dragging it over rocks and accidentally bonking into rocks or trees and pulling people out of stuck spots (like this past year so many times).
Anyone in Colorado need a stock bumper? LOL

Good mod! One observation though, can you still open your tailgate? Looks like it will make contact with the hinge side of the swing gate.
