99 2500 5.9V8 cranks but won't start
Hey-
I was driving my 99 2500 5.9LV8 gasoline4wd AT up a steep hill today and at about 3500 rpm and it shut down, but not before about 5 seconds of dieseling. Now it cranks with plenty of juice from a new battery but will not turn over at all. I'm pretty sure I can smell gas while cranking but have not checked for spark yet. I think I can hear the fuel pump kick on when I turn the key also. My first thought was to test the coil, then plugs for spark which I will do in the AM. Anybody have any advice or had anything similar happen to them?

I also had a 99 that did the same thing. Have you tried feathering the gas as you cranked? My problem was an AIC (air idle control) sensor. Costs about seventy dollars.
