Default truck running poorly

hey everyone

I have been reading the forums for a few weeks and tried a few things but still no luck
i have a 2002 2500 4x4 with 5.9/360 with 116,000

when i start it up it and it idles it moves 100 or 200 rpms while sitting

i get on the highway, and step on it and sometimes it seems to kick in and give power but not a whole lot.
most of the time it just kind of gradually gains rpms and then fills like it is going to shift then it shifts real hard. (reminds me of my old powerglide in my old chevy)

i have chnaged the tps, and governor pressure solenoid

this weekend i am cleaing the iac and all the plugs, wires, distrubitor and rotor

any other suggestions, i just bought this truck three weeks ago and i just got done putting a new ring and pinion in the rear end., (got it back today) and they didnt get that right cause when i put it in reverse it shutters a little like the rear end is slipping.

any help is GREATLY appreciated and I am sorry that my descriptions are not that great since I am not very mechanically inclined.

Default RE: truck running poorly

Have you checked your catalytic converter? Loss of power sometimes is associated with that. Just a thought
