Default How do you make your own cold air intake?

Hello all,

I am new to the forum. I have a:
1999 Ram 1500, Shortbed Reg CabAuto
Gas 5.9 w/ Cat-back Flowmasters.
I would like to try a CAI but those prices are steep. Does anyone know how to make one at a lower cost? I am guessing it wouldn't be hard but my concern is the materials used. I have visions of stuff braking offthe inside of thehomemade tubingand going down my intake.

If you want something that works good, but is cheaper, read through this thread:

I installed the 14" K&N round filter yesterday and love it. Alot cheaper then the CAI system. I have less then $25 into mine. best mod for the buck.
