whos is running electric fans?
hey im looking to improve the performance of my 1998 ram 1500 5.2 L I would like to free up some power by installing a set of fans. who has done this on a dodge and what fan set up are you running???
I run 'em, got a 16" puller and 14" pusher on the A/C condenser.
It's not an amazing HP gain, but it helps offset the cost of having to run the A/C almost year round down here in Dallas. Probably saves the water pump a little effort too by not having to spin a fan on the same pulley. I haven't had any issues with overheating, even in the hour and a half 95* stop and go traffic I sat in on Saturday to go to the state fair with the Texas/OU game going on. Crawled the last 4 miles and shifted into2nd once.

Well,I got my fans at Oreilly Auto Parts. They'retheProform brand.You'll want fans that combined can run at least 4000cfm (more if you tow) to be safe. Ican't get you picturesuntil Wed at the earliest as I will be working until 10pm tomorrow.
A guynamed LeeWallace here on the forums runs almost the exact same setup andhas Imperial fans which have better fan to radiator connectors than mine do. I'd do a search with his name as a filteras he posted pictures. I also had a post when I was having problems with the install, you might want to check that one out as well.
I highly recommend the flex a lite fan controller part #31165. It'll do everythingyou need it to do and probablysome more.

I have added someEletric fans. It will Improve your performance. Just you will have to cut off the fan cluch. realy easy. I use 5 eletric fans in my truck. You would be okay with 2 large ones. I live where it gets over 110 and I tow and I like to have the ac on while towing while keeping my engine and tranny and engine oil cool. With winter temperatures coming
Ram owners should consider just removing the factory fan
from the viscous clutch
{store it upright or the silicone fluid can leak}
and finding out the MPG gain
before spending money on an electric fan.
