A heads up if your looking for a used Ram
DO NOT BUY THIS ONE!!! After my wife had our second child I decided to trade my ram in on an excursion, only to find out that the truck had been salvaged in 2001. I just bought it in February and was given a clean carfax report from the dealership...problem is he forged the carfax print out and erased any mention of the salvage[:@][:@]Luckily I was able to find a dealership that would take it on trade and give me what I owed on it as long as I bought a new car....which sucked cause I got stuck in an import car[:'(][:'(]I guess I'll wait a few months then trade it in on something American. Anyway..the truck is a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with 10 in. of lift and 35" BFG MT's. I can get the vin # if anyone needs it. I traded the truck in NJ but have no clue if they are going to sell it or auction it off to another dealer in another state. Just don't want anyone else to get screwed.
Why was it salvaged? After it has been repaired and inspected, the "Salvage" tag can be removed.
Also, why did you not originally return to the dealer you bought it from when lookng for an SUV?

well it is true...nothing I would come here to lie about. I have been in touch with many lawyers about this and I do have a good case...problem bieng that I live in NJ bought the truck in Delaware and was givin a Maryland Title. Lawyers say I would have to sue him in Delaware but there is no guarantee that I would be given lawyer fees in the settlement, actually said it is rare in a case like this to get lawyer fees back. He said for a cheap lawyer figure on 2-3 grand. So if I win in court I would get the price I paid for the truck less legal fees and would then have to come up with that extra cash in order to pay the finance company so the title could get sent back to the dealer. Just not worth it IMO. I have called carfax and they are checking into it and the Delaware Attorney generals office is also investigating. I just couldn't wait because my insurance company had the truck valued at $4500 because of the salvage...so if it were stolen or totaled I would have been out a lot of money..so I had to get rid of it asap. My own fault really, I should have run the carfax myself and not trusted the dealers copy....live and learn I guess.

You are correct, in some states the salvage tag can be removed after the insection...BUT the dealer must also disclose if the vehicle had ever had a salvage title history....this is true in NJ and in Delaware, I found that out through the Attorney General. That's why I had a good case if I had pursued it. Even though the title was cleaned, any sort of salvage history drops the vehicles value in half or more.
it was savlvaged at 5000 miles from a high speed frontal impact with a lightpole...had to be pretty serious damage to salvage a truck with only 5000 miles on the clock...it still had high value at that point...this is according to Maryland DMV records.
You really can' tell there was anything wrong with it. Looks perfectly good now. Besides how much stuff have you replaced since you bought it. It's probably been brand newa couple of times.
