I've already kind of addressed this before, but it's earned another post. For the first 2 1/2 months I owned my 2001 Ram Off-Road, my computer always averaged 12-12.7 mpg, ALWAYS. Then one night I went to start the truck, and it said I was averaging 11.2mpg. A week went by with that. Then after not starting my truck for 2 days, I went to go start it, and the computer read 10.6mpg. What the hell is happening here???

I mean I definately like to hit it, but I don't slam it everywhere I go ya know? I guess the reason I am making a big deal about this is because for the first 2 1/2 months I owned the truck, the truck always gave me a 12+mpg reading, then suddenly, literally overnight, I started getting these 10.6 mpg readings.....very strange to me...

Knowing your driving conditions would help city/highway/mix/towing or what. I have read though the overhead computer averages the previous 35 gallons of fuel. Thus if the previous owner did all highway driving it would be up and if you done city driving it would take a while to go back down. If you reset it, pull a trailer which sucks the mileage down it will take a while to go back up. While going to college and driving in the city moderately gasing it my computer would read down in the low 11 range. Now I drive country roads/highway and it usally averages 12.2 to 12.5 on the computer. BTW if you check the mileage the old fashion way most likely your computer is less than what you are getting. Mine is off about 1mpg.
Also were you tires added before or after you got the truck?

Yeah, that's all I pretty much do is city driving, unfortunately. So I am constantly stopping and going. It's a big boy too, it has 35" tires with the 5.9L engine so I know it definately burns some fuel to get her going. Now in regards to the cat, I don't think it is clogged considering I just bought a new magnaflow one less than 2 months ago when I put in the exhaust system. If it is clogged, no worries though, I am having it gutted this coming tuesday lol. So you think its normal for it to drop over night 2 whole mpg?

haha it wasn't too big of a deal though, the cat only cost $85. I like noise, and I want it louder, and I needed the appearance of a cat at the time anyways, so I am still happy for getting it, it's been nicehaving, but I like that cigarette boat sound.
