Default Plan for Leaky Plenum Pan

I just got my 01 Ram 1500 5.9L. I love this truck and want to do things right when fixing it. I live in Alaska and having anything shipped up here is a PITA. I want to update my steel plenum with an aluminum one. I looked at the precision Kit and the Huegh Kits and find that they are the only ones selling the aluminum pan. The Chrysler stealership says they don't have a technical service bulletin on my VIN # and that the only part # they have for the pan is #5300617. He doesn't know whether it's steel or aluminum. He also says if I order the wrong part, I got to keep it. I real pain in the ***. (Seems as if you not buying a new car, your just wasting time.)

Anyway, he later mentionsChrysler making anupdated gasket for the original steel plenum pan. He says the gasket if more durable and can even be used with the same bolts. This looks to be an option that could solve my problem. Even cheaper too. I hope that the new gasket is the real deal. Anyone heard anything about it.

I looked into my through my intake and see all kinds of oil and crap. Needs to be done soon.

Default RE: Plan for Leaky Plenum Pan

I've personally replaced over 100 plenum gaskets with the Chrysler kit. Done properly it works fine (use a torque wrench and clean everything properly) I've never had one fail twice that I replaced. If you really want extra insurance buythe aluminum plate. The stock one is steel.
