Default Boost Valve Plate Replacement Help

I have the reoccuring code 1740 coming from my priceless dodge. I plan on changing the Boost Valve plate this weekend. I got the part from dodge for 5 bucks and a tranmission/filter kit from shucks for $20 bucks. I have the ATF+4 and my manual (from merry christmas thread). From looking at the diagrams I can see that the Boost Valve plate is located on the valve body. Should I be able to replace the cover without having to pull the valve body. Anyone done this yet? Will the plate be in front of my face once the pan and filter are our of the way, or on the other side of the vavle body?

If you've done this job yet, how did it go and did it fix the engine light problem? Any suggestions please!
