does anyone know why?
i looked in the FSM and i couldnt find an explination.. hopin some of my mopar brethren could add some insight
why in the hell does the A/C compressor run when you select defrost? normally it wouldnt matter but my e-fan is wired to kick on when the a/c clutch kicks on so i have air movement during A/C operations... defenatly not needed during defrost and cold NY mornings
thanks!

RE: does anyone know why?
A lot of people laugh when I tell them Air Conditioning is meant to take humidity out of the air, they only think it is made to keep people cool, but when you look at the words in bold text , it says nothing about keeping you cool, only about conditioning the air.

Eh, that's part of the answer. If the A/C is not cycled on a regular basis, then the seals will dry out. It is also better to use a mix of air, rather than straight hot air inside of the vehicle, so this helps to compensate for it. My 2002 Cavalier is set up the same way.

Also at a certain tempurature ( 55-50 degree F) outside temp the A/C should kick off since the A/C can help out any more than the outside air. Up here in North Dakota here when its -40 air temp(not wind chill) the A/C is off and well from that certain temp to there they have have the A/C off. If you are askin how it does it, its by a thermostat designed for outside temp. Anyway hope that helps. I am outta here to celebrate the bday.
