Default Almost 300,000

My 318 is just a few months away from turninng 300,000miles in the last year she has begun to burn a little oil and has started to knock rather loud on innitial startup. I hit car-parts.com lastnight and got looking around and found a 360 out of a 2500 with only 28k miles on it and because of $$$ situations am considering just dropping it in there. All my mods will go on the new engine and this spring (after tax time) it will get a cam and a new set hughes heads. Other than compression and why the engine was pulled what are some other things I should check and ask before I purchase this engine.

The reason I don't just build a motor now is because of the $$$ issiues. I sat down a few months ago and to build my new engine it's going to cost me almost $6000. Either way I am going to need a 360 block. This way I have the block when I get ready to do it in a few years and until then I still have my truck in good running order. Plus I can spend around $2500 when I get my tax money back and I can put 300hp-350hp to the rear wheels and be happy with that for awhile. Anybody know if aTorque converter from a 318 will bolt up to the 360? I know I have to have the flywheel and all that good stuff but not sure about the TC.

I'm not the transmission expert here, but yeah I'm pretty sure your transmission will bolt up to the new motor no problem.
