I've personally never tried it but some people swear by it. The thing I don't like about it is if you read the can it seems to do everything. You can pour it inyouroil, in the fuel, down the intake, on your cereal, etc.
Seems like a lot for one product. Is it the best for all applications or is it sorta good for some things but better for others? Like I said I never used it.
It probably won't hurt anything but I don't know if it will work as well as CCC.

 

Run some fuel injection cleaner through the next few tanks of gas. Chevron Techron is the best; however, nothing short of tearing apart the heads is going to remove carbon build-up. That stuff gets to be rock hard over time and enough build-up.

I have run some fuel injector cleaner in there a couple times, not Techron, but I generally get gas at Chevron anyway.

I will report back after the combustion chamber cleaning.

 

I asked in another thread and was told that the compression should be around 170.

According to what I have read, compression readings will sometimes be lower if tested on a cold engine, so they could be even higher than what I have listed.

After the cleaning I will at least attempt to do it on a warm engine.

The only thing I could find was Seafoam and again, it was highly recommended by the parts store.
Put it in last night and let it smoke up a storm as expected.
Pulled the plug this morning and it still looks great, maybe a little oily from the Seafoam but great other than that.
Drove the snot out of it today and it feels much better than before and I could not detect any pinging even with WOT off the line, and was easily able to get it to ping previously.
I have myboy by myself this weekend so I cant do a compression check, but I am going to run another cycle of the Seafoam through it next Thursday or Friday and do a compression check on Sat after I clean it out again.
I told the parts store guy what my readings were, of course he said that sounds great, you just dont want them too low! I mentioned that even if they werent high, theres too much variation. He didnt think that mattered at all. Almost everything I read says there should not be more than a 10 or 20 percent variation between all cylinders.
Anyway, I will post back next weekend after I run another cycle of the Seafoam through it, I am really hoping the readings are more normal this time to save myself the money of having to do the heads.

I still have some unanswered questions myself.

 

OK, so I ran some stuff through the engine 2x now, once a week ago and once again the night before last and burning it off yesterday.
Did another compression test, and the results arent exactly what I expected.
Had a remote starter this time so I was able to get more acurate descriptions of whats happening

First test went like this
1 197
2 170
3 197
4 172
5 188
6 200
7 181
8 165

2nd test results (these are the values leading up to the final compression)

1 200 (150-180)
2 192 (120-160)
3 197 (130-160)
4 185 (120-150)
5 196 (155-180)
6 193 (130-150)
7 186 (150-170)
8 165 (70-130)

As you can see, the number 2 and number 4 cylinders seem to have caught up with the rest of them, but the number 8 cylinder seems to be holding steady at 165.

The plugs look fine, with the #8 again being a little bit oily.

What now?
