I think your problem is... your cylinder 7 & 8 are not firing. I would take a look at them and see whats up. Sorry man, had to do it. Anyway I would check the cat like everyone suggested.

Personally I've never seen a 3.9 that ran smooth even when brand new.
As far as I'm concerned there boat anchors.
Test the fuel pressure and try unplugging the EGR and see if it's any better.

pcfixerpro, you are in the wrong line of work (lol). What's even funnier is that it took me quite awhile to actually get it... but it is 5:45 am now! I will do the test for the cat as soon as I find a way. We do not have any muffler shops in my area... thanks again! I will keep you all posted!

Well I hope I gave you a laugh... as that's all it was ment for. I got told that joke when I had my 1966 straight six stang. That carb on that thing was a ... pain in the ****! I never got that thing set right, but I think its because there are worse problems. She would bog down, and only like to run on choke for some reason. Oh well.. wish she had a 289, but that obviously didnt happen. Anyway, I wish u the best of luck.

Actually I should have THANKED you for the laugh, as my temperment with this truck is getting worse by the minute. But I willremember that and use it at a later time (lol)...
OK... here is more on this truck, I talked to the former owner this a.m. - he replaced theCAT about 1 year ago and hadthe EGRreplaced around the same time. How about the COIL? Maybe?

Glad you liked the joke... haha i know im not cut-out to be a comedian, but I do what I can. To the point,in most cases a coil works, or it doesn't. However I have ran across one case where that was not true. hmm... sorry i'm not much help. I'm just gonna think out loud for a minute. If it were me..., I would double check my tune-up stuff. and make sure everything is tight. try reseting the pcm for a while. Also.. you said you just bought this. And since it did have a problem when you bought it...how long was this truck sitting???? maybe a bad batch of gas? Just trying to keep it simple here as there are more qualified people on these forums that can pinpoint stuff way better than me. Just out of curiosity, does it do it in neutral? (the miss). I know my grandpa's dakota sport with a v6had a nasty ping problem when he bought it used from the dealer. Used it a while... and traded that thing in on a chevy colorado and never had a problem since. If no one can give you a hand, it is probably worth the $70 dollars in diagnostic fee at the stealership to find out just what is going on. Then go from there.

Good luck!,

You know... all you guys have been great!Got another coil today and not a bit of difference. Yes in idle and reverse and so on and so on!Talked to the owner again today... as I do everyday... this truck started to do this about 3 - 4 months ago... slowly got worse. Checking hoses now? Again... shooting pool with a rope!

You mentioned missing under load, i.e. OD on...
Have you had the timing checked? Does it run hot? That seems like a timing issue to me...crank sensor, cam sensor, distrib., etc.

Thanks WayneC... as I stated I just bought the truck so it is NOT licensed yet. I have tested it up and down my road where I can hit speeds of up to 50mph or so... safely... the biggest problem is there is NO engine light. so I am just doing the basics. Actually ran a can of sea foam though it yesterday. DANG... did that make it smoke! WOW! I was actually scared that I did something to it. But, that did nothing to it.

Now, back in the day, timing was checked with a timing light. Is it still done that way? This is a 1995, 3.9 v6. Can the sensors that you were talking about be pulled and cleaned? If so, where are they? I willcheck those today.

I am working as hard as I can to get this darn thing going as winter is setting in quick for us in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I have NO garage to work on this in... [:@]

Please... I am open to ALL suggestions!
