Default horn relay location?

The horn button contacts went bad inside the steering wheel pad on my '98 Ram 3500. Too expensive to replace with a dealer part, so I bought a cheap horn button to put on the dash. Not sure exactly how to wire it, though. I assume I need to run a hot wire from my new horn button to the horn relay. However, I cannot find the horn relay. Anyone know where to look? Thanks. - Steve

Thanks for the quick response. Okay, I found the horn relay inside the black box behind the left battery, but I'm just looking at the top side of a bunch of relays. How do I run a new wire to that relay, or better yet, identify the existing wire leading there from the steering column?Theremust be someway to get to the underneathlayer of the box that holds the relays, yes?

You can tap into the wire thatcontrols the horn relay on the steering column.
Can't remember wire color, sorry

Look where the wires plug into back side of clock spring.

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions. I was able to find out through a manual that the horn wire at the steering column is black/red, so I cut into it at the base of the steering column. Didn't even have to pop the horn pad off. Anyway, I got a horn button installed and it's working, so I'll be able to get the truck to pass inspection. Thanks again, Steve
