pullin the wheel

Default pullin the wheel

Im pulling the steering wheel in the morning in order to replace my clock spring. i printed and read the info out of the downloaded manaul. im just looking for some experienced information. anything will be helpful! thanks

whats the trick to pulling the retaining nut in the center of the wheel? its a PITA!!

Ive had mine off... Its simple.

I just used a socket (i dont remember waht size) got the nut off of there, then used a puller to pull the wheel off the shaft.

You dont have to use a dedicated steering wheel puller, but they do make pullers specifically set up for pulling steering wheels. You could get the wheel off without a puller, but I dont recomend it. Im sure you could rent a puller from autozone if you dont already have one.

yeah i got the puller. i just cant get the nut. did you do by yourself? my socket keeps slipping off because my wheel is not locked so it just rocks back and forth as i pull down on the wrench.

or use a pry bar wedged downward somewhere...

lol puller...
i finally bought one after i yanked one out at work and hit myself... haha

oh and make sure you have battery disconnected on the negative side!

i got it! my roommate came home so i had hold the wheeland i got it off with like 1/4 of a turn. and now everything is back together. new clockspring works and the airbag light went off and i avhe cruise control again!!

i was gonna use an impact but my bro has the air compressor... oh well im to strong for an impact!!! haha

now to return the puller to autozone
