i gots a ?
alrite guys so im trying to figure out if i have a problem or not.. iv got a 2001 5.9 4x4 with 2" level kit, headers, round air cleaner, 285/75/16 bfg a/t's and as of rite now no muffler (just coming out through about 2ft of pipe after the cat) and im consistitly getting 9.4-10.3 mpg.. iv read a number of people with the same truck getting alot better mpg's and was wondering if those numbers are normal or if something is making it low. idk if its the performance parts w/ the tires or if thers some sort of maintinance im missing thats making it so low.. just wondering and any input would be nice.. thanks all in advance
With my 318, drop in K&N, and magnaflow duals I get a solid 12mpg city always. I drive pretty conservatively too, so if you drive hard I'd expect it to be where you are. If you are conservative then you might have something minor wrong
I drive my truck pretty hard alot of the time, and I have no muffler either and I'm actally still getting a consistant 12-11 mpg... However you do have headers and 33's so that could have somthing to do with is also... May'be look into a cold air intake for better gass milage, summit racing has one pretty cheap on there if your interested, otherwise maybe if you could live with smaller tires and a muffler that could help too... I know I couldnt ever do that though I love the way my truck sounds with no muffler and the way it looked when i had my 33's on it...
