Tire size

We recently purchased a 2001 Ram 2500 4x4 with a Cummins. It needs new tires, what is the largest size I can run without a lift or leveling kit. I am thinking 295/70/16 or 305/70/16 BFG All Terrain KO. Anybody out there with some real life experiance to share here?
