no,no, and no. They came painted but it says right on them its not high heat paint Why they would paint them and not use high heat paint is beyond me. i didn't realize the sticker said NOT high heat tillyesterday and by then it was too late to paint them cause the stockers were off. Also is was pretty damn cold yesterday so it prolly wouldn't have held well anyway and after talking to my bro in law today about it if you paint over the paint they use which isn't high heat after it burns up the paint i would have sprayed on it would have came off as well we figure. The heat shields wern't a problem at all hell we only pulled 2 of the spark plug wires off to get them out of the way. I had to hold a couple of the other wires up a slight bitto wrench on the one bolt but it wasn't that big of a deal

did you paint them? was it high temp paint? did you have any trouble with the spark plug heat shields being in the way of the flange? thanks

Well,
In about 2 weeks or a particularly long road trip you'll have probably burnt or chipped off all the paint that's going to come loose (due to expansion and contraction). Then you can repaint them with a high temp paint. It's going to have to be some really high temp paint as you've got the full heat of burnt combustion going straight into those headers, it isn't just radiant or conductive heat like it is on otherparts of the engine. That 500* engine enamel won't be enough.
Mopar makes a variant of PB Blaster that's supposed to be really good. Can't remember the name, but it's supposedly got graphite suspended in it that works it's way into the cracks. Not sure how much the PB blaster will help if you run the truck after spraying it, it'll actually burn up and the burnt leftovers might make it harder to get the bolts out.

2 weeks? that ****s gone already lol.I poped the hood today and the couple block trip home a lot of it had formed huge chips and was coming off. I drover it all around tonight and its about all gone off them now. I'm not to worried about it. If I have to take them off to replace gaskets or anything then I might repaint them. its not a show truck so wo cares how the headers look.
padodgeram yeah sounds good any luck today?
