tried the programmer again that didn't help. i think it is in the sensor my wife told me when it happened she was backing up quick and she heard the tires chirp. so maybe it could be the sensor in the rear end. if you agree please tell me what the part is called. and i will swap it out after i get it and see if it works. the tire size r about stock 265-75-16 are what i have stock is 225-75-16 i don't think there is a problem with that but i am not sure

OK got all the sensors finally and changed them didn't work what else is there

OK just in case

the truck speed reads some were like 100-110 when doing about 55-60 around there. It takes a min to get back to 0 when i stop.A lot longer than before. i am getting another sensor from napa for the rear end to see if maybe i just got a bad one.

and i found little metal shaving on the tail shaft sensor! should i be worried?

thanks for all the help

The sensor in the diff actually is a magnet, just like the crank position sensor. Not sure about the one in the tranny but I'd bet it's the same. If there's loose metal, it'll stick to it and it's possible it's giving you afalse reading.

I just looked back about 3 posts and noticed you said the stock tires were 265x75x16.Is that what was listed on the sicker on the driver's side door frame? It really sounds like your pcm has got the wrong tire size programmed. The 225's are 29.3 inches (set the programmer to 29.25") and the 265's are 31.6" (set the programmer to 31.5"). Those sizes aren't that far apart to cause an amazing difference.

I would return the truck to stock by removing the hypertech program, thenreset the pcm by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, then take it for a drive and see if the truck is reading at least somewhat normal. This will let you know if it's a programmer issue or a truck issue. It's possible the programmer got interupted while it was adjusting the speedo and went wonky on you. Hopefully it has a clean copy of the stock pcm program in it's memory.

keep adjusting your tire size by 1/4 inch increments with the hypertech and you can nail it dead on.
