Default Transmission not shifting

'00 1500 slt laramie5.9 4x4 quad Three days after buying it from aused cardealer, it will not shift into secound gear unless you modulate the throttle some and,(sometimes will not shift at all)it will not shift past 2nd at all. Just before this is flashed a converter lock-up selinoid code. Is this mean it needs to have all of them replaced? Thanks in advance, Dee Durant, Oshkosh, Wi.

Default RE: Transmission not shifting

Do you still have any type of warranty coverage from the used car place? sounds like they sold it to you with the problem.

A TV cable adjustment or even tranny band adjustment (funny, I justposted about this on the "list maintenance to be done soon" thread) can affect shifting, but it can also be a sign of a failing tranny, so get it checked quick.

The TV cable can affect shift points, do a SEARCH for "TV cable adjustment" and you'll find plenty of info to help diagnose. Very easy to do if your the least bit mechanically inclined. Read these two threads:

The bandsalso play a small part in shifting too (usually just firmness I believe). The front band can be accessed without removing the pan, but the rear band isinside the tranny oil pan and you'll have to pull it to gain access.

I'd say check the TV cable for adjustment first, if you take it anywhere they'll probably tell you you need a rebuild and you're looking at ~$2000.
