Trans service?
bmass- you have to have the truck in neutral to check the u-joints..and can anyone tell me which tranny i have...now i am real confused..both of you guys showed evidence that either trans is in the truck..
97 models were completely converted to electronic controlled transmissions - lots of solenoids, etc
about half of 96 were supposedly still hydraulic - but i have yet to see one...

chrysler directly - or dodgeram.org?
if the 46rh was offered then - chrysler would have put it on the parts listing so that techs can actually order replacement parts for it.
that screenshot is directly form dealerconnect.chrysler.com

if its a 97 you have a 46RH NOT a 46RE (Hydraulic not Electronic controlled shift)
94-97 http://dodgeram.org/tech/transmission/4xrh.htm
98-01 http://dodgeram.org/tech/transmission/4xre.htm
build sheet would tell you too but you can also use tose 2 links to determan the tranny type

another easy way to find out is
Crawlss under truck, look near shift linkage on tranny, count how many connectors/wires plugging into tranny near gear linkage
if there is only 1 with only 3 at most wires going in - it is a 46rh
if many more than that it is
46re
