Default Transmission Rebuilt?

I was under my truck today doing an oil change, when I noticed the tag on the bellhousing for the transmission... it said "Built: 284 05"

The truck is a '99 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport 4x4 5.9L... is there a way to easily tell if it has a rebuilt or newer transmission in it? I just bought the truck on Saturday- so I'm trying to learn as much about the truck as possible. I do know that the truck had hit a deer in November 2005- so that's why when I saw the '05' on the tag- it made me wonder if it's possibly not the original.

Thanks for the help.

welcome to DF. Most likely the trans has been rebuilt, hey just look around just about everybody has had it rebuilt or tinkered around with it.

It would be nice to know for sureif it was rebuilt and when- which is why I was hoping someone here could tell me something from the built code.

I noticed the fluid is still very red- looks almost like new fluid. I also have the tow package- so I have the huge transmission radiator as well- that should help extend the life. I did purchase a 36,000 mile extended warranty as well- so no worries for at least 36,000 miles. ;-)
