Update -
Put in half a bottle of Lucas Oil, Oil Stabilizer, and the oil light stopped coming on. All other symptoms remain.
Took her in to have her looked at. The shop is saying she's just old. Gonna change the oil to a heavier weight and put in some oil treatment (5BK or something like that) that should help quiet down the sticker lifter noise. They don't feel the timing chain needs to be replaced or any other major engine work. Oil pressure is good.
Gonna have them replace the heater core while she's there.

I have a rental. An Equinox. Feels and drives like a car. Kinda nice, quick, decent features, completely flat floor. It's kind of hard to see out of. The latch for the rear hatch is electric so if it breaks, you're not getting in or out of it. There's no cup holder big enough for my Nalgene bottle.

Rebuild it. For less than 2 grand it'll scream. Find a good machine shop to inspect, clean, bore, and hone as required and then go to work. Check this article out.

http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/t...ild/index.html

It outlines how to turn a 318 into a 400 HP smallblock. With your 360, you should get more than 400 HP. But if you do, don't forget to use synthetic oil and to get a good bypass oil filter system to keep your oil analytically clean and to make everything last a whole lot longer. Get the kit from a company like Frantz. Their website is

http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/t...ild/index.html

Then, you motor will last at least 10 times as long as it did and will probably never lose power if maintained properly.

If you like the truck find a reputableauto mechanic(Not stealership) that can install a quality Jasper or other major engine brand engine for you. Of course going up to a 408 would be very nice, but also very expensive.

You could purchase a nice remanufactured 360 and the ndo some add-ons to it.

You have answered your own question. What you want is a newer truck. You want to start again and do all the modifications. You know it is much cheaper to keep your truck and put in a new engine (you can get it done for less that 7k). I will be making this decision too. I have 190k on mine. How long can it go? I am leaning diesel though.

175k is a lot of miles. That truck did its job.

I'll get her back tomorrow. I think once I've gotten my fun out of her, I'll donate her to one of the mountain fire rescue orgs. No idea what I'd get next. Too far away to even think about. She's my wheeler too so I'd have to make the decision if I do that again or go with ATVs.
For now, I'm on my way to hit 200k miles for sure.
