Here is another option. Better for towing, no clicking. They have it for the 9.25 rear, just not updated on the site. Just one moreoption to confuse matters more.

Ok I have been preparing to order parts and get my gearing and locker/LSD upgrade under way but I think I have surpassed the information overload limit now and I have no clue what locker/LSD to go with....LOL

 

Well lets try and make this simple...

A. If your pockets are deep, and you don't mind the harshness (btw on a truck the Detroits "clang" is almost unoticable due to vehicle weight.) buy a Detroit Locker.

B. If your pocketbook isn't as deep, but you want the best bang for the buck, buy the lunchbox (powertrax) locker. For you current application, it should be bulletproof. Ps...you can buy one for a factory LSD carrier.

C. Is there a third choice? Well a limited slip is better than an open diff, but if your gonna spend 4 or 5 bills on one, why not step over to the locker.
Don't waste your time with the factory LSD...wait we covered that.

PS...FYI for the group. You CAN damage a powertrax. But it's done ONLY in an extremely abusive situation, and is collateral damage from other catastrophic faliure. Like blowing your front "C"s" off your D-44...

 

Reviving an old post here, new member. I've done a lot of internet research recently on the PowerTrax No-Slip performance and durability. There is not much bad written about them (after early problems a decade or so ago), but the Pro's don't like them. My take is this... Professional differential builders and 4x4 shops will steer you away from them (or not sell them) because they can and do break during extreme rock crawling and monster tires and modified engines. Not worth the hassle to them when you push it too far and break it. BUT... if you use the PowerTrax No-Slip in a low or medium performance on or off road situation, in a stock light or medium duty truck (carrier not damaged and locker installed to specs), it will work fine and you will be happy. I've just gone through a hardcore 4x4 shop trying to push a Detroit locker on me. I'm just trying to upgrade my un-grenaded 9.25 TracLoc to something better in my stock (engine and tires) 1500 4x4 work truck that just sees off road use limited to mud and snow.

 

I think you have done your homework and more importantly you know how you're using your rig. Therefore, I agree with your assessment. Only other option to consider is an Auburn LSD. An occassional member here (Aubrey) is running one and praises it, while he runs a bit more offroad relative to you (just my inference). Good on you for sticking to your guns and stay away from that shop for not listening to your needs. I think you'll get pretty good pricing from 4wheelparts or similar store.

I use a Yukon posi in my truck.. Truck is used for mud and snow.. Very good unit that has not let me down.. I am not very gentle on it either.. Its the Grizzly Locker from Yukon.. Good unit with no noise

 

does anyone know if powertrax make "no slip lockers" for an 07 dodge 2500 hemi with 3:73 rear end gears?
