Hey I am new here, I have a 98 dodge ram 1500 sport with a 5.9 in it. I want to know if I had an inline fuel filter or if I only have the one on the fuel pump. The Myspace forum said I don't have one in the gas line, but a guy I know said every single vehicle ever made has one. Sense you guys are very smart I figured you would know the real answer.

 

welcome to DF, you shouldnt have an inline filter unless its an aftermarket. Yeaa the only filter is in the pump... Goodluck

You also have to go to a dodge dealership for the filter, Thats crappy cause they rape you on parts

 

No you don't. I bought my new fuel pump assy on E-Bay and saved over ½ the price on a dealership pump.

well sorry i dont trust parts off ebay, i wouldnt want to put another ****ty pump and filter in my tank to much freakin work

 

It's the same damned part. Don't blame me if you don't know how to shop around. I have over 20,000 miles on mine, so what do I know

 

just another question while we are talkin bout fuel filters how often should they be changed? and are they in the tanks on all the sec gen rams?

 

you really shouldnt have to replace the pump its the filters that need changing about 100,000 miles id say, and yes as far as i know they are the same for all sec. gen RAM's
