I just purchased a 1996 ram slt Lariet and it runs great and all systems work just fine . I have had no trouble with the tranny after I put 400 miles on it since I purchased it. The previous owner said he replaced the tranny at 145000 and it now has 180000 on the truck ,my question is should I take it to a tranny shop for an inspection and what will I benifit from doing this? With so many shops who will take advantage of a person who dont really understand an automatic tranny its scarry to trust them or wht they tell you. I plan to take it to a tranny shop for a high pressure fluid change and after that I will remove the pan and change the filter and retop it off with fliud as I know the filter will be contaminated after the flush. I read on this forum where someone likes to get up and look out the dinning room window at their ram and I must admit the first thing I do after I get me a cup of coffee every morning is go to the dinning room window and just look at my ram I thinks its by far the best looking truck on the road and I have owened a ford and chevy. So what should I do here all advice appreciated. tks terry----------tboss

correct if its okay leave it alone. Also i had a high pressure fluid change and within a mount i had to have the tranny rebuild. My theory is that the tranny is hot and the liquid that they use to clean the tranny is warm/cold so it warps and twiststhe mechanics inside as a result of hot metal and cool liquid, but thats just my 2 cents

could also be the fact that a high pressure flush would dislodge any debris that would otherwise just lay dormant and do little/no damage, i don't know the exact procedure on that type of flush but i believe its the onewhere they disconnect the tranny cooler lines and flush it through there right? (please correct me if in wrong), if sodo they drop the pan, clean off the magnet, clean all the slug off the bottom of the pan, and change the filter first because if they don't do that there moving all of that through all your inner components in a very short period of time, and not to mention the temp difference like 2500 mopar said.... kind sounds like it could be bad if its not done properly...
