Protrusion under dash
From under my dash, and centered over the transmission hump, is a protrusion about 5" X 12" with two recessed screws holding it. What is it covering?
I do not want to remove it before knowing what's behind it, as I might screw something up. It is the same color as the dash and apparently an extension of it..

I think its brains for the airbag setup... thats waht it has always been on my other cars...
Ive always wanted to take it off and see, but I never got around to it...
I dont think you will hurt anything.

Unplug your battery before you go dicking around with it, just to be sure. Getting hit in the face with an unexpected airbag will eff your day up.

Its your ARS (airbag reastraint system) it is what tells your airbag to deploy (brains). Has i think 2 yellow connectors. The haynes manual reccomends you not to tamper with it- doesnt give and explanation why but i think it will mess up if you disconnect- there isnt a problem with taking the screws off the cover though- if u just want to look at a silver box looking thing lol.
