I was thinking of this for my new exhaust system. Maganaflow cat and y pipe. Flowmaster straights with either flowmaster 40 or 44 muffler. What do you guys think? Will it be loud? And should i put tips on em?[/align] __________________

I think to run a dual exit you have to do away with your spare underneath the rear.Unless you exit both out the same side...It sounds like pretty good setup and will sound good for sure. It will be pretty loud, especially at WOT. The 40 and 44 both sound great, but the 44 is bit more aggressive sounding. My fav is the 40-series 2 chamber. The tips will be a personal decision. Some like 'em, some don't, but the exhaust sound really won't change dramatically with or without them.

I have a 2001 1500 5.9 and just put Flowmaster kit # 17429, fits 99-01 5.2 or 5.9 4x4. Has a 50 series muffler and tail pipes can be out back or out side. I have a trailer hitch and spare tire still in place. This system is loud but not like 40 series or others. I picked this as when I had a 89 S10 Blazer with 350 tuneport in it I had the 40 series and all you could hear in truck was exhuast. I ordered system off EBay for 345.00

Yeah on my last truck I had a 40 series 2-chamber, and after the "cool" wore off, I was sick of the noise. I made sure to go way more mellow on this truck. I went with Magnaflow (b/c I had one sitting in my garage), and it is aggressive but not too bad on regular/highway driving. If you go with 40 or 44 you will have some cabin noise, so that's something to consider. Personally, for a daily driver, I would want 50 series, but the 40 or 44 would be my choice for a weekend toy. I just can't take the noise all of the time. All up to you, man...

+1. Cabin noise is not worth comprimising on a daily driver. This ladies 5.0 mustang has a hole in the exhaust right under the driver side. Bout puked when I got done driving it after 15 mins. Heck, riding shotgun I get a headache. Those sounds are best used for drag, when you hear the loudness for under 15 seconds and then wears off.

When I bought my truck, it had a Flowmaster, I think 50 series... It was 3in/dual 2.5 out to two tips, and it sounded good. Mellow, but not too loud. I gutted the cat, and cut off the tailpipes and it was significantly louder, but then i just yanked the muffler... so, yeah.
