4x4 not disengaging
Last night I was driving around in the new snow we got, only about 6 inches. Well I had it in 4hi and went to take it out will driving. I let of the accelerator and put the lever back into 2hi and the light went out on the dash and thought I was out of 4hi then there was a loud clunk and that is when it finally disengaged, cause I locked it back in and then tried to disengage and yes it still was. I had to stop and back up for it to fully disengage. I have not had to do this before. anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance.[sm=helpout.gif]
did you get it out of 4 wheel or is it still in?? if its still in make sure the lever is in 4wd... go forward for a lil bit stop put it in Nuetral than 2wd than reverse to a slight click (hubs disengaging)
it is out of 4x4 but I had to stop and put it in reverse and back up. normally before I could just shift back to 2hi and it would shift out while still moving. It is like there is a delay in it. Is there a vaccum line that could be plugged or leaking that is causing this delay?
How are your tires? Are they evenly worn? Are they all the same size and brand/model?
If the front or rears are worn more they you can get binding that makes the system hard to disengage. If one tire pressure is low it can cause binding too.
