Default Real Sport........?

Guys, got a Ques..........

I picked up a 98' 1500 X-Cab5.9L....I think its a Sport...not sure?

It says "Sport" on the side of the bed.

Now heres my ques, if it is a Sport, does it natrually sit high then a normal Ram and what gear would u think I had back there.
or basically is it a Sport? and if so, what are the differances than a Reg Ram and a Sport....?

Sorry I'm new to the site and a First time Ram owner, (Owned many trucks, Absolutley love this one, better thanall of them. wish it wouldnt of took this long...lol) I got it from a widow who had it in a garage for the last 2 1/2 years.
It has 47k on it and I paid $3K for it. I think I got a deal on it.

Any help/suggestions u guys can give me to point me in the right directionis appreciated.

P.S. I wanna run 285/75/16's any probs w/that?

Thanks guys,
Carl

Woah 3 grand at 47k miles, you got an excellent deal! Only question I can give you an answer for to the best of my knowledge is on the back if your rear differentialshould be a stamp, it'll have the gear size, imgonna sayits a 3.55 stock.

If it says sport odds are it's a sport. Sport's have color matched bumpers instead of chrome. They do not sit higher than 4x4 slt rams, unless it's the offroad package. In which case you would also have 17" rims, 4.10 gears, and an off road decal on back, among other stuff.

other then body styling there isn't anything differnt from a sport and reglular ram but, 3k is a hell of a deal. I run the 285's stock and they don't rub at all.

i have a 98 sport 2wd and i run 285 in the rear with no problems. (they fit in the front good to). the sport is just that, the grill is the same color as the truck as well as the bumpers are color matched with a black pad on top(pre 01). i took my sport stickers off. i plan on debadging my truck completely.

yup the sport package is just an apperence group package, came with matching front and rear bumper, grill and the taillights are also the same color as the truck insted of that ugly flat black color ones. it also generally came with 265/75/r16 tires where some most reg. rams had smaller unless it was an option

When I bought my tire package the salesman said that I could run in the 300's and have clearance. Do not recall the exact size he gave me. Figure it to be low. Dont forget the 4 headlight system in the sport.

i believe in 99 they changed the sports to have a different bumper and grill setup with quad headlights. I believe in your case the 98 it is just like everyone else stated, just color matched bumpers and what not. It doesn't come with quad headlights. And as far as gears it's probably 3.55. Look on the underside of your hood and it'll tell you that information.
