advice 2000 ram 2500 154k miles
Hi All,
would you buy a 2000 ram 2500 quad cab SLT with 154k miles, 5.9L V8, auto.
Replaced so far is the a/c compressor, heater core, new brakes, decent tires. Drives really well. Anything I should look for? what would be a good price to pay?

thats like 38k in 4yrs.pretty high for mileage.gotta be mostly highway,im not sure you can have a truck for 4 yrs and put 154k mi in the city.
im sure the motor still has alot of life in it,can you not take care of a motor and still get 154k out of it?prob not.
have you checked out www.nada.com or www.kbb.com to find book values?id start there for an idea of price.then sit back and wait for the info from here to come in.
good luck

I wouldn't be worried about the mileage (my 98 has 160,000 miles) as long as the vehicle has been correctly maintained. The 318's and 360's aren't really broken in until they hit about 120,000 miles.

yeah, check for a leaky plenum gasket... look down the throttle body and see if there is oil on the bottom of the intake. this is a common failure and there is a kit you can buy for under $100 bux to fix it for good (from aps precision or hughs)
I just bought a 99 1500 QC 4x4 with 158K on it. Truck looks & drives like it has about 40K on it. Intake gasket was replaced, few other small items, ORIGINAL trans has been serviced (crossing fingers but damn- 158K for orig is pretty darn good) Shocks need replacing, etc. It depends on what kind of deal you can get- if it has been taken care of you should be fine. Often times the high mileage trucks are far cleaner and better mechanically than low mi. because the owner depends on them.
