Default A Great 5.2 to 5.9 swap story

Once in awhile its time for someone to throw out someones name that has done a good thing. This is the time. I just had Paul (spudsterier) from Mendota, IL do a 5.2 to a 5.9 swap in my 2001 Dodge Ram quad cab sport. I went from a 149K 5.2 to a 99k 5.9. I also had him install a pcm from B&G Performance (from Michigan). Well the truck runs GREAT now and can def smoke the tires. It goes down the road with ease and gas mileage is running about 13 mpg. Paul is an excellent mechanic and is a dodge neon fanatic. He works on his cars and about everyone elses. I HIGHLY recommend him. [sm=deal.gif]

THANKS PAUL!!!!

Idk what the deal is with some of these trucks. I have a 5.9 with 52k. Can't break loose the tires to save my life, and get around 10mpg city 12 highway. Good deal on the upgrade though. Have fun with your new engine.

That's awesome to hear. I do think we all tend to dwell on the negative a little too much. It's good to hear the positive as well!

i'm guessing the ability to break tires loose and the increased fuel mileage is from the advanced timing due to the PCM upgrade. chryslermade a serious boo-boo by giving so many of these trucks the "death flash", lowering the timing kills power, mileage and drivability.

yes the pcm was done by b&g and was done with the mods i have done to my truck. It has a mopar performance cam, k&n intake, 180 thermostat, msd wires. I have 285 BFG all terrains on it with the 17" offroad rims. Tomorrow the truck is getting 315 70 17 BFG tires. The headers and exhaust are on their way. Im also picking up a fiberglass ram air hood tomorrow. its a functional ram air hood but im only going for the look. The only other thing is the M1 Mopar performance intake........... im ??$$ getting that.

yes a 5.2 with a death flashed pcm is a sad deal. the 318 might be good for a dakota or durango but not a Ram 1500 Quad cab 4X4 with 35" tires. if i could have thrown a 4.7L in I would have.............those things hall a$$.

I recommend B&G for the pcm upgrade and paul for wrenching on the truck. I wish he did paint work............. he'd be doing the hood, grille guard, roll pan.
