I was told my light just burned out in the dash is this possible?
possible, but i doubt it.
if you have the digitial odometer, an easier way to test it is to hold trip meter in while turning key on. continue to hold in trip meter until you see CHEK. then turn it loose. cluster will perform a self test where it lights up all the lights, then sweeps the gauges to about 1/4, 1/2, then full.
That is a good way to check it assuming the circuit is in tact. On my truck where I do not have the 4wd indicator harness plugged into the CAD anymore (and the light worked before I unplugged it), the procedure above does not light the 4wd dash light. So I am only guessing that for his malfunctioning light, it will fail to display as well as the circuit gets it's ground from the CAD connection when engaged.

Try it, but if it fails to light using the check cluster method above, you may still have to check the light and harness wires individually.

Regarless,I doubt seriously it is the bulb/led, and am suspecting a bad contact on the CAD or wiring harness.

Yep dhvaughan it lights them all up but not the 4wd indicator light and swept all the gauges. I will check if its a fuse tomorrow but other than that im not sure what it could be and does anyone have any idea what could have caused it to go out like this?

ramman - bill's post about it not working if unplugged at cad seems on target. i didn't know that.
i still doubt that the bulb is blown.
i'd inspect/remove/clean the elec connector from the cad. (see first post above from ramman)
if that doesn't fix it, i'd remove the switch and troubleshoot it.

bavarskas - could your switch be shorted out to ground ? since it doesn't work when installed.
