Check with the dealership to see if your truck is eligible for a free catalytic converter under the terms of the big recall for 1996-1999 Rams:

Thanks my friend but i just missed the cutoff by 600 miles. Mine has 120600 miles and the cut off is 120000.

Replace the cat or else be subjected to a blinking Engine Light, which means misfires. It usually cause #6 and #8 to misfire due to the converter being clogged and too much back pressure.
