i have a ram 1500 4x4 and just the other day i was driving and then had it sitting for about 5 hours then when to get my computer and it wasnt going into park or will not let me get the truck into 3rd or overdrive when trying to get into park is stops at reverse and will not let me go ant higher the transmission fluid doesnt smell burnt

 

Have you checked to make sure nothing is blocking the cable at the tranny such as a stick, mud, rust, anything along those lines?

 

what do you mean by the cable if you are talking about the transmission linage i took it off and still
